One may say that a glass is half full,
while the other would say it is half empty.
There can be nothing in the glass,
but its function rests in its emptiness.
This space can be filled with what ever we choose.
The first person can see greatness in the future,
while the second may only revel in the past.
These two people can fight over their thirst,
but the Taoist will drink the water.
I like how you used the glass metaphor the whole time and the end is very effective.
ReplyDeleteI liked the theme of your poem and how you can see through the glass in different ways. By this I mean filling the spaces with whatever we choose or even fighting over it.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you kept the opposing sides metaphor throughout your poem, and I thought you ended it in a great way by defying the opposing sides metaphor and bringing in a third side (the Taoist).
ReplyDeleteI like how you used the metaphor to show how the Daoist brings together Yin and Yang. While I was reading the poem I wasn't sure how the two people were going to bring Yin and Yang together, so the ending was all the more effective to show how Daoism changes a person.
