Tao Haikus

Be like the river
Adventure through life’s path
Be ready for death

Be like a flower
Observe beauty around you
The green world beckons

Be small like the mouse
For large lions can be trapped
Within their own strength

  1. The use of haikus that are connected through their message is really creative! I love the picture that the carefully chosen words show.

  2. This is a cool idea! Using haikus instead of the Tao Te Ching's free form style forces each poem to be as simple as possible and convey meaning in few words. Each picture also matches its poem well.

  3. I love these so much! They reflect each other and the idea of Tao very simply and eloquently and I love the pictures that go with it! They're three haikus in one poem and I think that was a great way of putting this that flows.

  4. These are amazing! I think that the fact that you chose to write haikus instead of a regular poem really adds to the overall message. Your poem was very effective in explaining the Tao without actually explaining the Tao, if that makes sense.

  5. I really like how the poem's pacing is affected by the haiku structure. The use of a haiku followed by a photo each time forces the reader to stop and dwell on each haiku and think about its meaning. I especially enjoyed how you took the themes of the Tao Te Ching and applied them to a different type of writing.
