More powerful than a 12-year old
Able to leap trash cans in a single bound ♪

“What’s it like to be Mediocre Man?”
It’s like being alive.
An ordinary experience
beyond your mildest dreams.
Of course, my powers are great:
Setting high expectations!
“I am above average! I am special and unique!”
Taking the path of least resistance!
“I watch YouTube and eat cereal for hours because it’s easy!”
Subverting circadian rhythms!
“They were stopping me from getting heart disease!”
Living in denial!
“I stay up late to pretend to myself that I am working!”
I am Mediocre Man!
And I always BE MYSELF™!
I saddle the middle of the bell curve
Like a grown man on a tricycle.
I am mediocre
And this is where I stand.
Wow, I really like the originality of this poem. My favorite line is, "an ordinary experience beyond your wildest dreams" because it made me laugh. Also, I like your use of the little song above and the italics.

I like the line, “I watch YouTube and eat cereal for hours because it’s easy!” As some other people commented, the little song above is great. It's also interesting how the very last line adds a reflective conclusion.

ReplyDeleteThis poem is really relatable to a wide teenage audience, even adult tbh haha. I like the way you quote lines from an actual YouTube video, and it all makes much sense in it. The last part rhymed too, which adds more humor, it's as it you are speaking out a song.
